Cytotaxonomy and Morphology of Chironomid Larvae (Diptera, Chironomidae) in Armenia
In the study of chironomids in Armenia several species of Orthocladiinae subfamily of Cricotopus genus, Diamesinae subfamily of Diamesa genus, and Chironominae subfamily of Chironomus genus, have been identified. In the Cricotopus genus two sibling species were found, not distinguishable by larval morphological features, but clearly distinct cytogenetically. Keywords—Armenia, Chironomidae, kary...
متن کاملPolytene chromosomes of salivary glands of chironomids (Diptera: Chironomidae) from the Wrangel Island (Russia)
Polytene chromosomes of chironomid larvae (Diptera: Chironomidae), collected on the Wrangel Island are described. Larvae have 2n=8: AB, CD, EF, G (Ch. thummi Keyl, 1962 complex). By karyotype larvae are identical to Chironomus sp. Le1, described from the Sagystyr Island of the Ust-Lena Reserve (Yakutia) (Kiknadze et al., 1996). The insignificant differences include the number of nucleoli and pu...
متن کاملRiethia manauara n. sp., an Amazonian Chironomid (Diptera: Chironomidae) from Brazil.
One new species of Riethia Kieffer, Riethia manauara n. sp., is described and figured as male, pupa and larva. The generic diagnosis for pupae and larvae are emended. The specimens were collected from water systems in the Amazon Rainforest in northern Brazil.
متن کاملThalassomya gutae sp. n., a new marine chironomid (Diptera: Chironomidae: Telmatogetoninae) from the Brazilian coast.
One new species of Thalassomya Schiner, 1856 (Diptera: Chironomidae: Telmatogetoninae), T. gutae sp. n. is described and figured as male, pupa and larva. The specimen was collected in the marine zone between tidemarks, in southeastern Brazilian coast and is the first species of this genus recorded to Brazil.
متن کاملRheinheimera chironomi sp. nov., isolated from a chironomid (Diptera; Chironomidae) egg mass.
A Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterial strain, designated K19414(T), was isolated from a chironomid (Diptera; Chironomidae) egg mass which was sampled from Kishon River in northern Israel. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence positioned the novel strain among the genus Rheinheimera, with closest similarity to Rheinheimera pacifica KMM 1406(T). The levels of similarity to typ...
